The Claremont Hotel is a heritage icon, pulsing with contemporary energy in Perth’s western suburbs.
Through our local knowledge of The Claremont and its history, the restored and redeveloped landmark pub pays homage to the existing building and its heritage features, while offering a contemporary and revitalised experience for patrons.
The Claremont is an adaptable, inclusive modern-day venue for different demographics and occasions. The new entrance invites patrons into a light, airy atrium at the heart of the hotel, which provides access to each area: the front bar in the heritage building; the grand staircase to the rooftop bar and function rooms; and the family-friendly bistro that opens to alfresco dining and a playground.
Attracting the community
The redevelopment has tripled the size of The Claremont and enhanced its operational efficiencies. The bars, bistro and function rooms operate individually at busy times, while the large ground-floor central bar services the whole venue when it’s quiet. The north-facing rooftop bar is the only one in the western suburbs, offering an appealing point of difference, and skylights over the large central courtyard illuminate the ground-floor areas, providing light and inviting settings during the day.
The new addition is crafted in concrete and steel – materials that are modern and raw, yet sympathetic to the masonry and timber of the heritage building. Celebrating the history and making of The Claremont, the fluted concrete was cast with moulds made from PVC down pipes and drainage pipes collected from the demolition site.
Included in the design is the creation of a large central courtyard void area with skylights above, which will enable this light to penetrate deep down into the ground floor areas, creating light and airy contemporary spaces. New back-of-house areas and amenities have been introduced to enhance operational efficiencies and the customer experience.
