Inspired by the subtropical landscape of Brisbane’s West End, TreeHouse is a vibrant sanctuary where architecture, greenery and community are deeply intertwined
Together with Aria, the vision for TreeHouse was to create an experience of immersion in Brisbane’s subtropical landscape — to craft an architecture that purposefully generates both gardens for residents and a generous offering of greenery back to the city. Instead of simply greening the elevation, we integrated trees into the structure, enhancing the living experience and amplifying the connection to the adjacent Davies Park.
A Vibrant, Subtropical Pavilion
The podium is an airy, subtropical pavilion that blends the public and private realm. The vibrant café invites pedestrians in from the street and park to sit in the shade or on the stoop. Large concrete petals around the top of the podium encourage people to look up and see the cascading vines and flourishing trees integrated into the architecture.
Plants and People
Trees in giant planters gently separate the apartments, serving as balustrades and privacy screens, reducing isolation and promoting community. As the two-storey apartments interlock, the balconies, planters and trees create depth and complexity. The architecture becomes more integrated and organic – inspired by the park landscape –and the building is imbued with life of both people and plants.
Sustainability and Views
Reducing the load of the greenery on the building, the planters are the structural columns, strengthened by the trees and soil they hold. This reduces concrete, maintenance and subsequent costs, and the positioning provides residents with views framed by arched corners, trees and blossoming canopies.
A generous eye for life
Generous rooftop spaces offer connection with the landscape and provide high-quality private and communal spaces for the residences. Luscious landscaping, generous pools, barbecue areas, and a children’s playground offer a wide range of uses, celebrating our outdoor lifestyle
