Connecting Past and Present: The Future of Bradmill Yarraville

Referencing the past and drawing inspiration from the local context of Yarraville, Bradmill responds to the evolving needs of residents while paying homage to the site’s importance to the social and physical fabric of Yarraville.

Frasers Property’s Bradmill Yarraville is the beginning of the historic Bradmill factory’s next chapter; a mixed use precinct which will deliver retail, dining, community spaces and 1,500 homes to Melbourne’s west, including 650 townhouses designed by Rothelowman. The factory itself is a familiar site for those who commute across the West Gate Bridge and has long been underutilised, ripe for opportunity and evolution.

In redefining the site’s relationship with Yarraville the masterplan explores how to emphasise the local, create connectivity, and embraces sustainability. Streets that prioritise the pedestrian experience and landscape thread through the village, becoming the setting for buildings that, through their form, materials and detailing, connect the past to the present. Bradmill will not only boost the housing opportunities available in Yarraville but also provide significant parkland for the broader community.

Rothelowman is excited to see the first phase of the project commence and looks forward to contributing to the narrative of the iconic Bradmill factory.
