Shane Rothe steps away after 32 years at Rothelowman
At the end of 2023, Founding Principal and Chairman Shane Rothe will formally retire from his full-time role and board position at the company. Shane is looking forward to spending time with his family, dedicating more energy to his personal interests, and focusing on his other board and committee commitments.
Shane’s guidance and leadership has seen Rothelowman grow from a two-person practice to one of Australia’s leading design firms.
Co-Founding Principal, Kim Lowman, shares “On behalf of the Board, Principal Group and the wider Rothelowman team, I want to congratulate and thank Shane for his leadership, dedication, and contribution to the firm.
“It’s been an amazing ride establishing the firm with Shane, it feels like it was just yesterday when we started this journey. Shane may be stepping down but thankfully he won’t be a stranger to me or the team as he continues as an Ambassador of Rothelowman in a promotions and representation capacity.”
Over the past 15 years, Rothelowman’s leadership team has strategically expanded and diversified, proactively preparing for the eventual departure of its two Founding Principals to ensure a gradual and seamless transition. With this strategic evolution, we are entering a new phase under the guidance of the twelve remaining Principals across Australia. This strong, experienced, dynamic, and deeply integrated leadership team possesses a combined tenure of over 150 years and will confidently continue to lead the 200-person practice.
Founding Principal Kim Lowman has already begun as the Chairperson of the Rothelowman Board and will remain an integral part of the leadership group. He is dedicated to achieving his goal of forging outstanding architecture and fostering personal growth. To do so, he continues to tap into the vibrant energy of the emerging generation and carry-on offering mentorship within the firm.
The Rothelowman Principal group remains focused on helping the team to produce industry-leading architecture and interiors that benefit clients, building users, and Australian cities.
Shane will always be part of the Rothelowman story, and we wish him the very best in his next chapter.
