People, community and sustainability are at the heart of Canvas, a genuinely mixed-use development in Brunswick.
Designed from the inside out, Canvas’s internal program is expressed in the building’s sculptural design and structural form, which opens views and living spaces to reinterpret the industrial regeneration of Brunswick.
Canvas is a hub for the vibrant Brunswick community. Commercial tenancies on the ground and first floors invite an eclectic mix of businesses, including a neighbourhood café that spills into the lobby – a shared space designed to bring people together. A staircase ascending into a lightwell encourages people to walk rather than take the lift, and the communal rooftop provides residents with spaces for working, socialising and relaxing.
Designed from the inside out
While striking from the outside, the internal building program and apartment layouts were at the forefront of our design thinking. Each apartment, room and terrace is framed within the modular precast concrete façade, creating a visual grid as a visual manifestation of the internal program. The robust mosaic reflects Brunswick’s industrial past whilst the articulated elements have a sense of movement as sunlight enlivens the concrete and glass.
