Premium new retirement village welcomes first residents, Yarralumla Views
Introducing a New Standard in Retirement Living.
Amberfield, the latest addition to LDK Seniors’ Living’s portfolio, has now welcomed their first residents, setting a new standard for retirement living in Australia. Designed by award-winning architects Rothelowman, this community exemplifies architectural excellence, with thoughtfully planned spaces that will foster an engaging and supportive lifestyle for LDK’s residents.
Nestled in Canberra’s coveted inner south, Amberfield combines convenience, privacy, and luxury just minutes from the city’s heart. Its elevated position provides stunning views, while keeping residents connected to urban life.
LDK Chief Executive Officer Byron Cannon said the village’s opening marked the culmination of years of meticulous planning and hard work.
“Every element of Amberfield has been designed with our residents in mind,” said LDK CEO Byron Cannon. “From elegant interiors to seamless support services, we’ve created an environment where residents can live independently and fully, knowing we’re with them for life.”
“Our first residents will be moving into the Stage 1 villas over the next few weeks, and we’re incredibly excited to see our vision come to life,” Byron said.
“We have built everything with our residents in mind, to cater to the needs and desires that we’ve learned are essential to them. This is their community.”
With a full range of premium amenities—including a wellness centre, dining options, a grocer, theatre and a craft shed—Amberfield provides an unparalleled resort-style living experience, allowing residents to pursue passions and enjoy life.
“Our focus is on enabling independence while delivering tailored support,” Cannon added.
The village will ultimately feature around 380 dwellings, offering on-site specialised dementia care, 24/7 care staff, as well as palliative care.
A Culinary Experience Beyond Expectations
Amberfield’s Hospitality Manager, Ash Chaudy, brings 17 years of experience from prestigious hotels such as the Hyatt. He’s excited to build lasting relationships with residents and maintain high food and beverage standards.
“I’ve just turned 40 and I’m looking forward to a career change. I knew LDK looked after its people and its residents. I wanted a new opportunity which was based on caring for people,” he said.
Leading this culinary vision is Head Chef Jason Gould, whose impressive background includes leading iconic Canberra venues such as Otis Dining Hall and Courgette.
“The dining experience here is about creating moments of celebration,” Gould remarked. “I’m excited to elevate dining at Amberfield to a level that rivals any city restaurant.”
This unwavering commitment to culinary excellence makes Amberfield more than just a residence—it’s truly a destination.
