This residential project in Hawthorn is in the heart of the urban regeneration area surrounding Burwood Road and responds, not only to the surrounding industrial buildings but to the evolving character of the precinct.
The building is characterised by two distinctly different languages; a solid base responding to the hard street interfaces and a floating framework above. The base is distinguished by deep cuts within robust concrete forms and deep abstract penetrations lined with timber.
Above, the frame supports ‘pop out’ balconies, roof gardens and winter gardens, designed to provide quality living spaces, solar control and cross ventilation.
Materiality is contextually appropriate and engages textured and naturally coloured finishes, including timber, stone, metal and concrete
