Shaping the future of architecture takes more than great design—it requires visionary leadership.

Rothelowman Principal Kylee Schoonens embodies this approach, continually championing innovation and elevating industry standards. Her recent appointment as Chair of Juries for the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) WA Awards Program 2025 is a testament to the impact she has had on the industry.

As Chair of Juries, Kylee will oversee the jury deliberations for 79 Western Australian projects across 17 categories—from Residential and Public Architecture to Enduring Architecture and the prestigious George Temple Poole Award—celebrating excellence and innovation across the built environment.

“It is an honour to step into the position of Chair of Juries for the AIA’s WA Awards this year”, Kylee shares.

“Celebrating the exceptional designs that have transformed WA’s local and urban communities is a gateway to shaping the future of the built environment. Great ideas can spark anywhere, and championing innovation through expertise and perspective elevates our industry standards and propels us forward.”

We look forward to seeing the incredible ways design studios across WA are using innovation and creativity to positively contribute to the built environment and activate communities at the WA AIA Awards in June.
