Rothelowman is proud to announce the firm has won another design competition, as the winning architect for Hines’ Build to Rent project at 15 Bank Street, South Melbourne.

This win with Hines, a global property investment and development group with big ambitions for its build-to-rent investment in Australia, is a significant accomplishment for the firm as we continue to expand our Build to Rent portfolio.
Sited amongst a rich layer of culture and history, Bank Street finds specificity within place and comes from a deep understanding of the contextual diversity of South Melbourne.
An elegant mix of grandeur and practicality, Bank Street prioritises occupant experience in equal measure to its contribution to the civic realm. Centrally located in a rapidly evolving and rich urban precinct, the site is in proximity to public transport routes, the Botanical Gardens and Melbourne’s CBD. The project’s amenity, coupled with its prized locale, makes the building a truly unique offering.
A garden within a building, Gloriette – the heart of Bank Street – is a proposed level three podium, creating an elevated community with open decks, private gardens and a centralised open void to the sky. The ‘Gloriette’ offers residents a series of spaces for gathering and chance encounters; linked together by garden paths and courtyards.

On the roof are the solar gardens. With expansive views of Port Phillip Bay, the Royal Botanical Gardens and city skyline, the communal garden under the canopy is the perfect place for residents to socialise and spend time. Visually comparable to a greenhouse, the communal gardens are framed with tall sheets of glass for wind mitigation.
A big congratulations to the entire project team.
