Situated approximately 300 metres from the Brisbane River as well as Brisbane’s cultural precinct, this site provides a rare opportunity for a mixed-use development of this nature in a currently conservative area of South Brisbane.
Flanked by a combination of commercial, multi-residential, hospitality and public amenities in the immediate vicinity, the site supports a well designed high-density urban typology that respectfully embraces the history and surroundings of its location.
Given the prime locality and volumetric size of the proposed development, it is important to create an iconic and timeless structure which exerts a contemporary form of architecture as well as embracing the site’s historic values. The core conceptual ideas of the architecture have derived from the existing railway line, South Brisbane’s heritage train station, as well as recognising South Brisbane’s historic tram lines.

The unique facade of Tower 1 attempts to abstract the fluidity and movement of Brisbane’s railway. This language is depicted in the white vertical and horizontal bands of the podium and Tower 1. These gestures also unify the tower and podium to create a slender and more appealing form.
Tower 2 incorporates a simplistic purple glass facade which compliments Tower 1. The sculpted form of Tower 2 is an expression of the distinct facade of Tower 1 and none-the-less adds a dynamic element to the western riverscape.
The podium plays a pivotal role in unifying both towers as well as activating the ground plane. The horizontal and vertical bands interweave to create an expression of movement and depth. As a result, the sculpted fluid podium cut-outs are filled with vegetation which adds to the tropical Brisbane atmosphere.
