Jonothan Cowle is a design leader capable of delivering complex projects with unique creativity.
His diverse experience includes award-winning, benchmark projects in master planning, high density residential, retail, performing arts, as well as sports and entertainment venues.
Jonothan is passionate about design and specialising in technologies that enable complex geometries and 3D modelling. His problem-solving skills and unique technical ability deliver outcomes at the cutting edge of contemporary architecture and engineering.
In addition to his role at Rothelowman, Jonothan lectures regularly at Australian Universities on Architectural design theory and technical innovation and has taught Design in the Master of Architecture Programme at RMIT since 2004.
Tenacious and forward-thinking, Kylee brings a breadth of experience to the Rothelowman team having spent over 20 years positively impacting the property industry through creativity, innovation and good governance.
Kylee’s strengths include her profound understanding of leading design practices for large and small scale developments, as well as her highly-valued and sought-after government advocacy and stakeholder relations knowledge and relationships.
Kylee is a motivated, people-first leader who is dedicated to changing communities for the better, with extensive experience working across a number of sectors including residential, mixed-use, aged care, civic, retail, hospitality, specialist housing and heritage.
Kylee is currently a Non-Executive Director for Western Australia’s land information authority, Landgate. She is also a Non-Executive Director for Bethanie, one of WA’s largest aged care providers, and for start-up Cleantech Infrastructure business, Geniux. Kylee also Chairs affordable housing provider Bethanie Housing Limited. She also advocates for positive change in industry within her role on the Residential Committee for the Property Council of WA.
Kylee’s ability to produce commercially astute design solutions with character and purpose strengthens Rothelowman’s leadership team and has accelerated the firm’s national expansion.
Richard has extensive experience in the architecture industry with a focus on residential and multi-residential projects. He is known for his technical expertise, which he brings to all his work, and is an asset to each project. His leadership skills enable him to expertly guide a project from concept design to final documentation.
Richard has experience in various project types including sporting facilities, commercial office, retail, heritage, and prefab.
Haydn is an experienced architect with a passion for creating high-quality designs for his clients. He is known for his attention to detail, practical mindset, and thorough approach to project management, resulting in exceptional outcomes. He is detail-oriented, with strong communication and project management skills.
He has experience in all phases of the building process and has honed his creative yet practical design skills, which allow him to produce engaging project solutions, along with detailed construction requirements.
Inspired by a desire to elevate the design of buildings beyond just form, Susanne is passionate about an architect’s role in designing for human connection and experience. With more than 30 years’ experience leading award-winning city-shaping projects, Susanne specialises in mixed use developments, as well as masterplanning, town centres, and large, complex urban regeneration projects. She has been at the forefront of an evolution, which has seen enclosed and isolated shopping centres become publicly engaging pieces of community infrastructure through the models of town centres and mixed-use developments.
With over 15 years in practice and eight years’ at Rothelowman, Ivana has experience in balancing the needs of both client and design, with an ability to develop an architecture that is both design-driven and commercially viable.
Ivana has an advanced understanding of the intricacies of planning and the details of construction, allied with a strong interest in creating architecture that is culturally and socially sustainable.
Ivana is a key part of the senior Rothelowman team, and her combined knowledge and experience are integral to the smooth delivery of a wide range of projects.
Passionate about understanding a project’s design narrative, Karl has successfully worked across various project types and experiences, from large format retail centres, master-planned residential communities, and student housing.

While understanding commercial viability, Hayley considers each project individually from the outset with a fresh design approach to each for the best, tailored design solutions.

As a registered architect, Marc has extensive experience working with award-winning architectural firms in Perth, the UK, and Italy. He is known for being approachable and professional, with a focus on fostering collaboration among all stakeholders to bring his projects to fruition. Marc has a diverse portfolio, with experience in sectors such as multi-residential, retail, retirement and aged care, NDIS and SDA, commercial, hospitality, leisure, and urban design.
Jeff brings a broad range of architectural experience from an extensive portfolio of work both nationally and internationally. His leadership of our Queensland Studio is characterised by an emphasis on collaboration and innovation in design across all aspects and stages of the projects the practice undertakes nationally. He is equally proficient designing individual luxury homes as he is mixed-use residential and commercial buildings across all scales.
His skill base and innovative approach to providing design solutions ensure a clarity and communicable vision for all projects. This approach is underpinned by a detailed understanding of Client aspirations, market desires and end user experience. An experienced Architect and Associate, Damian uses his strong communication skills to collaborate with colleagues, clients and consultants to drive projects from inception to completion.

Steven’s extensive experience across varied building typologies, including residential, commercial and educational developments has provided him with the focus to combine design excellence with the highest level of professional service and management.

Having gained proficiency across all stages of project delivery, she is adept from concept to construction. She is passionate about delivering design outcomes that respond to site context, improve the built environment and provide an exceptional quality of life for the end user.

As a Principal, Chris shares the studio’s passion for excellence in architectural design. He believes good design is the product of an intelligent response to the building programme, the site and environmental issues (Chris leads the sustainability division of the practice).
Subsequent to graduating from the University of Edinburgh, Chris has 20 years experience working on major projects in Australia and Europe. Fully conversant with all aspects of the architectural process, he has specific skills in building design and managing design teams.
Also the leader of our sustainability division, Chris has led large, multi-disciplinary teams for major residential, commercial and industrial developments in Australia.
As Managing Principal, Nigel is primarily responsible for leading the business side of the practice to ensure seamless service delivery for all clients. Prior to joining the firm in 2007, Nigel was a client of Rothelowman for almost four years. This ‘client-side’ perspective that Nigel brings to the practice gives him a unique, direct insight into client needs and expectations. Nigel is based in the Melbourne studio and regularly spends time with clients and Rothelowman team members in Sydney and Brisbane.
Nigel has a Bachelor of Economics and MBA from the University of Queensland. With over 20 years of experience in construction funding, project marketing and general business management, Nigel has the skills and motivation to help clients achieve their project goals.
Russell brings a dynamic and varied architectural portfolio to the Rothelowman team, having contributed to building types from high-end residential to larger public facilities. With the ability to work across all project phases, he has a complex knowledge of the architectural process from conception to completion.
Having worked on projects across all sectors from town planning to contract documentation, Russell prides himself on excellent co-ordination and management of clients, consultants and contractors throughout the project.
With over 10 years working with Revit Architecture, Russell excels in delivering projects in this dynamic environment, fully integrated with all facets of the project team.
His experience is varied and diverse having worked on building types from high-end residential, commercial, through to public buildings such as schools and hospitals.
In addition, he has the required skill set and experience to work across all phases of the architectural and construction process from conception to completion.
With a strong client focus and collaborative approach, Jackie has 30 years of experience in the Design Industry. Jackie spent many years as an Associate Director of a major Australian Design Practice, prior to starting Lombard and Jack in 2010.
Design focused with a strong architectural aesthetic combined with a love of detail, Jackie ensures that each project is well considered, resolved and unique.
Jackie’s design philosophy is underpinned by a desire to create sophisticated, refined spaces that will stand the test of time.

With many years of experience in High-End Hospitality Design, Jackie’s Portfolio includes the soon to be opened Ritz Carlton Hotel Perth, the highly acclaimed Crown Towers Hotel in Melbourne and the exclusive Royal Suites at the Sofitel Hotel Melbourne.
Jackie’s experience in design also extends to building strong client relationships, effective business management and design team leadership.

Mark has an emphasis on maximum specificity and process-oriented design, he provides design leadership and direction across projects from their conceptual onset to completed construction.
His research-driven, interdisciplinary approach to complex problem solving on all scales, enables him to look for the commercial opportunity to enhance architectural design and looks for the architectural opportunity to enhance the commercial viability of a project.
Mark has taught in the Architectural Masters program at RMIT as well as being a guest critic.
As well as being involved in the firm’s architectural design and development processes, Kim is a driving force behind its reputation for outstanding client service. He appreciates that a clear and concise understanding of property development strategy is vital to achieving project viability, architectural integrity and project endurance. Kim is based in the Melbourne studio and spends most of his time working with clients on projects in Victoria and New South Wales.
Kim obtained his architecture degree from the University of Melbourne and completed a Graduate Diploma in Property from RMIT. Born and raised in Hong Kong, he has more than 25 years experience designing multi-residential, mixed use and commercial projects throughout Australia and the Asian region.
In his role as Principal, Stuart constantly pushes the boundaries in design and detailing, creating cleaner, more efficient, rigorous and elegant solutions on challenging sites.
Stuart’s passion for high quality dense urban design was born out of training at the Metropolitan University of Manchester in the UK, just as the city was going through its post-industrial regeneration.
Prior to joining the practice in 2006, Stuart worked in London on large commercial and residential projects where clients included the London Underground. Throughout this period, Stuart created innovative designs and expanded sites, maximising their yield.
With an amassed 15 years of interior architectural experience on a diverse range of projects of varying typology and scale. Julia continues to be highly motivated, evidenced by her rigorous commitment to the exploration of ideas, material and meticulous attention to the technical detailing.
Julia works closely with the client and stakeholders to understand their aspirations, to deliver a tailored outcome through all phases of the project; through conceptualisation, schematic design, design development, documentation and construction administration.
Ben brings deep experience across multiple project types including residential, retail, mixed use, and integrated transport.
Having worked extensively across all project stages, Ben has honed his skills as an all-round architect. His concept design skills have been refined through the application of knowledge gained through project documentation and construction management.
Aside from technical skills, Ben’s focus is on interrogating each project’s brief and client’s business so that the right solution for their needs can be found. He takes the role of trusted advisor seriously. He appreciates the complexities of construction and the importance of successful project delivery to tight budgets and deadlines.
Ben relishes the opportunities presented by new 3D technologies and their capacity to enhance communication in the design process and their ability to maximise the quality of built outcomes.

His experience and dedication ensures seamless transitions between project phases without compromising the original design intent. Lawson is a keen advocate for BIM and the role it plays within the construction industry; the collaborative attitude it brings to a design team and extended level of service provided for the Client.
With expertise in the delivery of complex multi-faceted projects, Andrew draws on his enviable experience to lead the team and ensure that both programmes and budgets are met.
Andrew is responsible for the coordination of all disciplines and the client to deliver successful projects, he specialises in gathering information to fully understand the brief and delivery expectations.
As Associate at Rothelowman Andrew leads teams to deliver comprehensive documentation and follow through the construction process to deliver a built form which reflects the initial design proposal.
Andrew has built a reputation for balancing the often conflicting aspirations of design excellence with commercial reality. With over 25 years experience working on dozens of major hotel projects in Australia, Andrew is fully conversant with all aspects of the architectural process and has specific skills in the design of hotel interiors. Since settling in Melbourne in late 2001, Nick has gained vast experience working across a wide range of sectors and typologies.
Over 20 years, Nick has been involved in a wide variety of projects; from residential & mixed-use developments to commercial office, hospitality, educational, institutional & retail.
Nick’s experience in all facets of a project’s life from concept to realisation brings with it a deep understanding of clarity of process. This in itself is a key driver in the success of any project.
With more than 20 years in the industry and 13+ years with Rothelowman, Matthew has extensive experience working across multiple projects of differing architectural discipline and scale, including mixed-use residential, Build to Rent, Hotels, commercial and industrial developments.
